台灣科技產業自 1973 年工研院成立起,幫助新創公司落地生根,1980 年聯華 電子及 1987 年台積電最初都是由工研院起家。饒達仁所長展示了工研院機械與系統研究所強大的研發實力與未來發展方向,強調工業 4.0 時代利用大數據、人工智能和自動化技術提高效率的重要性。工研院不僅推動科技創新,還致力於協助產業發展,取得顯著成就,如連續五年獲得 CES 創新獎及愛迪生獎,並自 2008 年以來榮獲 47 項國際科技獎項。工研院機械所的工作聚焦於電動車、無人機的開發,以及機器人關鍵技術與智慧製造,目的在於實現高效生產與淨零碳排放,而台灣工業的能源使用占全國總量的過半,因此能源轉型對於減碳和環保至關重要,工研院在這方面的努力將對環境和社會產生深遠影響。

Since the establishment of the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) in Taiwan in 1973, it has played a crucial role in nurturing startup companies. Prominent companies like United Microelectronics Corporation (UMC) in 1980 and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) in 1987 trace their roots back to ITRI. Director-General Rao showcased the robust research and development capabilities of ITRI's Mechanical and Systems Research Laboratories, emphasizing the significance of harnessing big data, artificial intelligence, and automation to enhance efficiency in the era of Industry 4.0. ITRI not only drives technological innovation but is also committed to supporting industrial development, achieving notable milestones such as winning the CES Innovation Awards and Edison Awards for five consecutive years and receiving 47 international technology awards since 2008. The focus of ITRI's Mechanical and Systems Research Laboratories lies in the development of electric vehicles, unmanned aerial vehicles (drones), key robotic technologies, and smart manufacturing. The overarching goal is to realize high-efficiency production with net-zero carbon emissions. As Taiwan's industrial sector accounts for over half of the nation's total energy consumption, energy transition is crucial for carbon reduction and environmental sustainability. ITRI's efforts in this regard are poised to have a profound impact on both the environment and society.
