In this lecture, the speaker began by discussing Taiwan's industrial advantages, followed by an introduction to the key research areas of their laboratory, and finally, a Q&A session addressing students' questions. During the talk, the speaker mentioned their laboratory’s work on drone design. To enhance endurance, propulsion, and stability, they incorporate biomimetic design by drawing inspiration from nature. For instance, the streamlined shape of the albatross makes it highly suited for flight, so they use such biological features as part of their design concepts. What impressed me the most was the speaker’s explanation that differences in the albatross's feather colors create temperature variations, which in turn generate a more favorable airflow for flight. Additionally, during the Q&A session, the professor pointed out that with the growing prominence of AI, talent in mechanical engineering is just as important as in computer science. They emphasized that one's value is self-created, and mechanical engineers can also achieve great success depending on their goals. This lecture was truly inspiring—I was not only encouraged by the speaker’s enthusiasm for teaching and research but also motivated by their optimistic attitude. Beyond gaining academic knowledge, I also found valuable insights into research attitudes and future career directions. I thoroughly enjoyed this lecture.
