Department Characteristics
Department of Biomechatronics Engineering is highly devoted to the interdisciplinary education of agricultural and biological engineering since the period of Division of Mechanical Engineering, Department of Agricultural Engineering (1945-1981). During the period of Department of Agricultural Machinery Engineering (1981- 2000), the major theme of the curriculum is to integrate mechanical engineering and domain knowledge of agricultural productions. Mechatronics applied to the biological industry with the concept of automation and industrialization is the core spirit in the period of Department of Bio-Industrial Mechatronics Engineering (2000-2019). After launching the new name as Department of Biomechatronics Engineering (2019-), we promote the education of intellectualized biomechatronic system which integrates Mechanical System, Mechatronic Control, Artificial Intelligence, and Biological Process to cultivate research and development leaders needed for the rapid growth of various categories such as intelligence machinery, wireless network monitoring, Internet of Things (IoT), precision agriculture, plant factories, biomedical engineering, and green and substantial energy technology.
